PMD Artifacts are compact and modular alternatives to the tunable PMD sources such as the NRT-10033A and NRT-40133A. As a lab standard, the NRT-PMDAs are outstanding for fast and reliable comparisons between various and separate test set-ups and facilities. Artifacts are custom made to the customers' DGD and Depolarization request. Each NRT-PMDA made is fully tested across the C-Band for both DGD and Depolarization.
Measured spectra of NRT-PMDA showing wavelength independence: DGD=10 ps, SOPMD = 120 ps2, Depolarization=120 ps2, and PDCD = 0 ps2.
NRT-PMDAs come in plug and play cassettes that are easily installed into standard fiber optic distribution shelves. FC and SC connector types are available.
Key Features and Benefits
Useful laboratory PMD standards
All polarization maintaining fiber device - not moving parts
Passive optical device: Light-in/Light out, no electrical power required
Fixed PMD state with first and second order PMD (depolarization only)
Flat wavelength response
Useful for quick access in testing of key PMD states
